Many aspiring musicians are amazed at how big the difference is between recording and performing in front of a live audience – it would seem that you just need to perform your songs … Sometimes in the studio it is very difficult to approach the process with the same passion and confidence that you show on stage, but they remain very important conditions for a decent recording. Maybe you have too many expectations and play the perfect tracks in your head, or just not well prepared – all this can make living energy slip out of the studio. Here are some tips to help you keep it:
YOU NEED CONFIDENCE
Confidence while recording is a clear understanding of what you are doing and what you want to achieve as a musician. This means that if you are 80% prepared to record, then you are not ready yet. Unfinished texts and forgotten games will lead to frustration and will only distract from an important matter, in such conditions it is very difficult to feel confident. Serious musicians don’t go on stage without being prepared, so think about it – is it necessary to do this when it comes to recording? In truth, recording requires much more preparation, weeks of live performances. One performance will pass and be forgotten if you made mistakes, but mistakes on the album or EP will remain forever and will always cause a feeling of annoyance and shame in front of yourself and the audience. The better prepared you are and the more confident you are, the more energy there will be in your tracks.
